17th Century Pot Scumber or Milk Skimmer
17th century brass pot scumber or skimmer
Here is a recipe for milk by Eric Quayle:
Height: 64cm X Width: 21.5cm
“To twenty quarts of best ale or brandy, put in a peel of thirty Seville oranges and thirty lemons. As soon as it boils up, and when a cup of scum rises to the top, take off the pot and skim it perfectly clear, then put it on again with some more of the beaten eggs and skim again as before. Do the same with the remainder of the egg until it is quite free from dirt. This punch will keep for many years. “
