An English lignum vitae mortar and pestle, 18th century
The tapering body turned with moulded bandings — 5.1/4in. (13 cm) high; the pestle — 10.3/4in. (27.5 cm) long
Condition: Some old vertical shrinkage cracks to the body of the mortar in areas. Small minor nibbles around the edge of the base in areas, all consistent with age and use. Similarly to the pestle some old minor shrinkage cracks and minor wear and tear consistent with age and use, basically what one might expect with such a peice. The images give a good indication.
