The double baluster body in three sections, incised with simple geometric markings — 9.3/4in. (22.25 cm) high
Mortar graters were used in food preparation from early medieval times. They were used to grind peppers, nutmeg and a variety of other hard grain spices much prized and expensive in those times.
Condition: A section of the lower baluster body restored. Evidence overall of historical worm infestation. The metal grater lacking.
